Everything you wanted to know about Type 2 diabetes but were afraid to ask

Type 2 diabetes is a common disease in the U.S. today. And about one-third of those with this serious illness are unaware that they have it. Often there are no symptoms, but this disease can cause long-term damage to the vision, kidneys, nerves, heart and blood vessels. Those with undiagnosed and untreated Type 2 diabetes have a significantly higher risk of stroke, heart disease and peripheral vascular disease.
The Methodist Hospital 50+ Senior Connection program, in conjunction with Arcadia Community Center, will present a special lecture by endocrinologist Nirmal Banskota, MD, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the Arcadia Community Center, 365 Campus Dr.
Dr. Banskota will discuss what Type 2 diabetes is, how it is diagnosed and what the latest treatment options are.
