Arcadia Crime Blotters: July 8 – July 14

July 8

Shortly before 7:16 a.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of East Huntington Drive regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim stated his Toyota pickup truck was stolen from the location sometime between July 3 and July 8. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

At approximately 2:17 p.m., an officer responded to the 1200 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a vandalism report. The officer determined unknown suspects smashed the front glass door of an office building with a rock. The investigation is ongoing.

Just after 6:07 p.m., an officer received notification that a stolen vehicle was in the area. The officer conducted an enforcement stop on the vehicle in the 200 block of East Live Oak Avenue and, during a consensual search, located numerous shaved keys, a punch tool, and a meth pipe. A 25-year-old male from Los Angeles and a 21-year-old female from Los Angeles were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

July 9

At approximately 1:34 p.m., an officer responded to Albertson’s, 298 E. Live Oak Ave., regarding a theft report. The officer determined a 19-year-old male from Temple City stole $31 worth of beer from the store. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Around 3:40 p.m., an officer responded to the 300 block of East Longden Avenue regarding a report of a suspicious subject on a bike. The officer located the suspect in an open garage and upon trying to contact the subject, the suspect fled on foot. Assisting officers located the suspect and the 23-year-old male from Duarte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. Prior to booking, the officer located a glass smoking pipe on the suspect.

July 10

Just before 7:38 a.m., an officer responded to the 300 block of West Huntington Drive regarding a vehicle burglary report. The victim stated sometime during the previous evening, an unknown suspect smashed the front window of her vehicle and stole $20 worth of property. The investigation is ongoing.

At about 8:02 a.m., an officer responded to Dr. David A. Voron’s office, 612 W. Duarte Rd., regarding a fraud report. The reporting party discovered an unauthorized transaction while balancing the company’s banking history. An unknown suspect by the name of “Ruth Mandernach” fraudulently processed a check payment for $125.23. The business does not know how the suspect gained access to their account information. The investigation is ongoing.

Shortly after 8:05 p.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Winnie Way and Santa Anita Avenue for having expired registration. During a consensual search of the vehicle, the officer located burglary tools and neither occupant had an explanation for being in Arcadia. The 26-year-old male from Whittier and a 45-year-old male from Temple City were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

July 11

Before 7:38 a.m., an officer responded to Metro Plaza, 201 N. First Ave., regarding a grand theft report. An investigation revealed the victim was sleeping in the area and when he awoke, his backpack containing his passport, cellphone, and miscellaneous items, had been stolen. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

July 12

Around 8:22 a.m., an officer responded to the 800 block of West Orange Grove Avenue regarding a battery report. The victim stated an argument escalated when her boyfriend, the suspect, punched her in the face causing a bloody nose and bruising. The suspect fled prior to the officers’ arrival. The 63-year-old male from Los Angeles is outstanding at the time of this report.

At about 5:06 p.m., an officer responded to Von’s, 745 W. Naomi Ave., regarding a petty theft report. An investigation revealed the suspect selected $117 worth of groceries before he exited the store, failing to make payment. The 58-year-old male from San Gabriel was cited and released in the field.

July 13

Just before 5:17 a.m., an officer responded to Sesame Grill, 308 E. Huntington Dr., regarding a commercial burglary report. The officer determined unknown suspects smashed the front glass window, ransacked the cash register area, but did not locate the money and fled empty-handed. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

July 14

At approximately 12:23 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of Chelsea Way regarding a fraud report. An investigation revealed the victim had an extra 2017 Federal Tax Return filed under his name and identifying information. The victim does not know how the suspect obtained their personal information or the identity of the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.

Shortly after 9:59 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of West Norman Avenue regarding a burglary in progress. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects entered the victim’s residence through the rear door and stole various handbags and pieces of jewelry. The suspects are described as two males, both 20 to 25-years-old, one with a thick build, the other with a thin build. Both were wearing hooded sweatshirts and gloves. The investigation is ongoing.
