Blotter – June 28 to July 4, 2015

For the period of Sunday, June 28th, through Saturday, July 4th, the Police Department responded to 1,134 calls for service of which 123 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this period.

June 28

Just before 10:38 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a mail theft report. The officer discovered an unknown suspect pried open numerous mail boxes at the location. The total loss was unknown at the time of the report. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

At approximately 1:48 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s at the Westfield Shopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a theft report. An investigation revealed the 18-year-old male from Pasadena concealed merchandise in a shopping bag and exited the store, failing to make payment. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

June 29

At about 6:35 a.m., an officer responded to Arcadia High School, 180 Campus Drive, regarding a commercial burglary report. Sometime during the weekend, unknown suspect(s) tampered with the locks of four vending machines on campus and stole an unknown amount of cash and coins. The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 3:32 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Oakwood Drive regarding a burglary report. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) pried open a bathroom window, ransacked the residence, and fled undetected with an unspecified amount of property. The crime occurred sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. on this date. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

June 30

Around 1:06 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Huntington Drive and Santa Clara Street for driving with a broken headlight. During a consensual search of the vehicle, the officer located a glass pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine. The 23-year-old female from Los Angeles was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just after 9:13 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of Arcadia Avenue regarding a domestic violence report. During an argument between a husband and wife, the husband pushed his wife, causing her to fall and injure herself. The 33-year-old male from Arcadia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The victim did not request medical attention.

July 1

Shortly after 5:34 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of Sunset Boulevard regarding a stolen vehicle report. Sometime during the previous night, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

At about 12:01 p.m., officers responded to the area of Sunset Boulevard and Duarte Road regarding a female subject who was seen pushing a stroller across the street and appeared intoxicated. Upon contacting the female, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from her breath and located a 3-year-old juvenile in the stroller. The 45-year-old female from San Gabriel was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The child was released to DCFS.

July 2

At approximately 1:25 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of West Duarte Road regarding a trespassing report. The victim stated an acquaintance she met 5 days prior climbed onto her balcony, entered her apartment through an unlocked door, and, believing he left his property in her car, attempted to retrieve his items. The victim showed the suspect she did not have his property and the suspect fled with two accomplices.
The suspect is described as a white male, about 28 years old, 5’7” tall, thin build, with a tear drop tattoo underneath each eye. The investigation is ongoing.

Around 8:54 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Huntington Drive and La Cadena Avenue for expired registration. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from inside of the vehicle. The driver admitted to having marijuana, Xanax pills, and scales in the vehicle. The 19-year-old male from Duarte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

July 3

At about 1:38 a.m., an officer conducted an area check of a business complex in the 400 block of East Huntington Drive and located a suspicious vehicle occupied by an unknown male. A records check revealed the owner of the vehicle had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The officer verified the suspicious male was the owner of the vehicle. The 52-year-old male from Monrovia was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just after 8:54 p.m., an officer initiated an enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of Duarte Road and Santa Anita Avenue for crossing a double yellow line. Upon making contact with the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver’s breath. A series of tests concluded the driver, a 36-year-old male from Monrovia, had a blood alcohol content of .18%. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

July 4

Just after 4:03 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of West Las Flores Avenue regarding a robbery report. An investigation revealed two unknown suspects ransacked the victim’s home and demanded cash from the victim and his father. The suspects fled in a gray, four-door vehicle in an unknown direction.
Suspect 1 is described as a black male, 20 to 30 years old, black hair, with a small black handgun. Suspect 2 is described as a black male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 6:19 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Huntington Drive and Santa Clara Street for having a broken brake light. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the 30-year-old female from Pasadena was driving with a suspended license. She was cited and released in the field. The vehicle was released to a licensed passenger.
