The Santa Anita Bowling Green Club started off the 2015 season with The Floy Torvid Memorial Tournament. The format for this event is to play one 12 end game in the morning, have lunch, and play a second game afterwards. The day was brisk and cool with sixteen bowlers raring to go for the gold.
After all was completed, the team of Fan Hung and David Cheung took first place. Second place went to the team of Alan Ngo and Cecilia Tong. Kay Tong and Sandy Dalzell held third place and rounding out the top four teams were Don Keightley and Raymond Che.
Other lawn bowlers in this contest were Dewey Tse, Mow Yi Chan, Rose Blennov, Joy Wang, Marc Rich,
Amy and Shuman Chan, and Steve Parise. The Santa Anita Bowling Green Club would really like to have more participants in their tournaments but they are running low on Bowlers.
That’s why they invite anyone interested in lawn bowling to join the club.
If you would like to try lawn bowling and take some free lessons, please call Gene Plunkett at 626-351-5327 for information and scheduling those free lessons.
They have a web site that can help you get an idea of what lawn bowling is about. The website is: www.lawnbowling-arcadia.com.
This is a game that can last you a lifetime. Their motto is “Lawn Bowling Is Happy Times with Good Friends.” Give it a try. Like chicken soup–it can’t hurt!
