Nov. 1

2019 Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita Park, Nov. 1-2 from 10:45 a.m. – 5 p.m. (285 W. Huntington Drive, Arcadia, CA 91007). Craftsman Weekend 2019 in Pasadena, Nov. 1-3 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Pasadena, CA 91105). The Weekend’s offerings will include a tour of significant Craftsman-era houses, a variety of bus and walking tours, an Exposition Show & Sale of over 40 exhibitors featuring antique and contemporary furniture and decorative arts, a silent auction, presentations and exclusive receptions at historic sites. Walk for Hope at City of Hope from 7-11 a.m. (1500 Duarte Road, Duarte, CA 91010). Survivors and supporters — women, men and children — will unite in the fight against women’s cancers at Walk for Hope. Although there are no registration fees; City of Hope encourages all walkers to raise at least $100 to receive the official 2019 Walk for Hope T-shirt and become a Hero for Hope. Mindful Meditation in Monrovia Canyon from 4:30-6 p.m. (1200 N. Canyon Blvd., Monrovia, CA 91016). The sessions includes both sitting and walking meditation, as well as a variety of mindfulness activities in the canyon. Admission is free but there is a parking fee. Tuesday Musicale at Pasadena Public Library (285 E. Walnut St., Pasadena, CA 91101). Opening the program will be piano solos performed by Agatha Hou. Lisa Davis, violinist and Barbara Burgan, will play three compositions by Amy Beach. Ingrid Helge will sing several opera arias, and the program will close with a Sonata for strings by Rossini. SGV Women’s Social Club Meet-and-Greet Coffee and Meeting at Church of the Good Shepherd, Jordan Hall from 10-11:30 a.m. (400 W. Duarte Road, Arcadia, CA 91007). This general meeting is a great way to meet the members of Newcomers and Friends and learn about the club’s wide variety of daytime, weekday, fun activities. Participation is free. Artist Sunandini Banerjee will share her art making process in graphic design and collage and will guide you through creating an original collage using images from the exhibition Following the Box, magazine cutouts, and photographs from your own personal collection.
