For over 20 years, the Arcadia Educational Foundation (AEF) has supported the teachers and staff of the Arcadia Unified School District through its signature Mini-Grant Program. This year, AEF’s mini-grant program has accepted and funded 29 applications, benefiting 40 teachers and staff across the district for a total of over $21,000.

AEF’s mini-grant program channels its supporters’ donations directly into the classroom, allowing Arcadia Unified’s inspirational teachers and staff to enrich their current curriculum and enhance student learning. The largest individual grant of $5,000 was awarded to Holly Avenue Elementary School’s Garden Makeover project: Nurturing Nature and Sprouting Gardeners.

Applicants, Cecile Bons-Jogminas, Susan Saenz, and Cathy Hurley wrote, “These unique, hands-on experiences not only help students develop life science knowledge, they also instill in students a natural curiosity and respect toward nature now and into adulthood.” In addition, grants were also approved for school libraries at Arcadia Unified’s three middle schools and Arcadia High School.

All of this would not be possible without the support of AEF’s donors. Donations allow AEF to make a direct impact on the educational experience of Arcadia Unified’s students and help support Arcadia Unified in all it does to imagine, inquire, and inspire.
