Arcadia Crime Blotters: Jan. 12–18

Jan. 12

Shortly before 2:27 a.m., an officer was notified by a motorist that she had been followed by a suspicious vehicle in the area of El Dorado Street and Second Avenue. Upon locating and contacting the driver of the suspicious vehicle, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the suspect was driving with a blood alcohol content of .12%. The 39-year-old male from Baldwin Park was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

At approximately 3:44 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of Alice Street regarding a vehicle burglary report. The victim stated an unknown suspect entered her locked vehicle by unknown means. The suspect attempted to remove a window-mounted dash cam and fled with cash. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Jan. 13

Just after 10:28 a.m., an officer responded to First Avenue Middle School, located at 301 S. First Ave., regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed one student pushed another down two steps which then caused her to fall an additional two steps. She was later taken to the hospital, by her parents, for evaluation and treatment. The suspect is a 13-year-old male from Monrovia. The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 12:48 p.m., an officer responded to the 800 block of South Baldwin Avenue regarding a stolen license plate report. The business owner discovered the license plate to his commercial vehicle had been stolen sometime between Jan. 1 and Jan. 9. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

 

Jan. 14

Around 3:19 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1300 block of San Carlos Road regarding a burglary in progress. Surveillance footage revealed three suspects entered the victim’s unsecured vehicle that was parked in the driveway, used the remote to open the garage, entered the garage and fled with various tools. They left in a black vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.

Just before 8:32 p.m., an officer responded to Motel 6, located at 225 Colorado Place, regarding a battery report. The officer discovered an altercation occurred between a husband and wife. The wife punched her husband in the face, which cut his lip. The suspect is a 57-year-old female from El Monte. The investigation is ongoing.

Jan. 15

Around 2:57 a.m., an officer responded to the 00 block of East Duarte Road regarding a stolen vehicle report. Sometime during the previous evening, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1995 Honda Civic. The vehicle was located on Jan. 16, in Los Angeles, with collision damage and a broken steering column. The investigation is ongoing.

Shortly after 7:11 p.m., an officer responded to JC Penney, located at 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed three suspects selected numerous items of makeup from the Sephora section of JC Penney. When the suspects were confronted by two store employees, one of the suspects pushed the employees as they fled with the stolen merchandise. The suspects are described as Black females, between 18 and 27-years-old. The investigation is ongoing.

Jan. 16

At about 4:35 a.m., an officer responded to Mr. Champion, located at 168 Las Tunas Drive, regarding a commercial burglary. The officer discovered unknown suspects smashed the front glass door, ransacked the cash register, and fled with an undetermined amount of property. The investigation is ongoing.

Around 6:14 p.m., an officer responded to Macy’s, located at 400 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a petty theft report. Loss prevention staff detained the suspect until Arcadia PD officers could take her into custody. The 33-year-old, from North Hollywood, was transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Jan. 17

At about 3:54 a.m., officers responded to Starbucks, located at 300 E. Huntington Drive, regarding a vandalism report. Sometime between 10:30 p.m. on the previous night and the morning of Jan. 17, an unknown suspect used an unknown item to break the front glass window. The investigation is ongoing.

Just before 3:08 p.m., an officer responded to 24 Hour Fitness, 125 N. First Ave., regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed an unidentified suspect entered the men’s locker room between 2 and 2:30 p.m., forced open the victim’s locked locker, and fled with the victim’s wallet and cash. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Jan. 18

Shortly after 11:24 a.m., an officer responded to the 700 block of West Naomi Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. Sometime during the previous night, an unknown suspect smashed the vehicle window and fled with the victim’s property. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

At approximately 3:17 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita Avenue regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed that an altercation between an engaged couple resulted in the male passenger violently pulling his fiancée’s hair and grabbing her neck while she was driving. The female’s two juvenile children were also in the vehicle. A records check revealed the 31-year-old male, from Pomona, was on parole for spousal assault. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) was notified, and a parole hold was issued for the suspect.
