Approximately at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning, the Arcadia Police Department received a 9-1-1 call regarding gun shots fired at an apartment complex on the 800 block of Sunset Boulevard in Arcadia

According to Lt. Derrick Alfred from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), first responders found two gunshot victims in the alleyway near the parking area on the south side of the of the Sunset apartment complex at 816 Sunset Blvd., early Wednesday morning.

One woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the second victim was rushed to the hospital where he later died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

I live right around the corner and when I called the APD, the lady there lead me to believe the suspect was at large. I am sorry she did not give me the correct information that he was taken to the hospital. It was very frightening thinkIng he might be close!

Terry, Do you know that the woman killed yesterday on Sunset Blvd was our dear Cherry Liu? Cherry worked for me for 12 years at the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce and was a kind and loving mother and friend. Those of us who worked with her, her friends and family are devistated by her senseless murder. She was a wonderful friend and employee, and did not deserve this. I hope you can write her story when all the details come out. This should never have happened. I do not know if her son Jaden is ok and her mother, too. Hope you can find out more.
