Behind an all-around team effort, the Apaches were able to take down hosts Temescal Canyon 38-17 on Friday to advance to the Division XIII CIF-SS semifinals.

After making light work of Agoura in the first round, the Apaches were up against a formidable foe in the quarterfinals. The Titans who were riding a three-game win streak had also defeated Arroyo 31-30 in overtime last week.

Nonetheless, it seemed as if Head Coach Andrew Policky and his team had a game plan and executed it to perfection as the Apaches immediately seized the lead in the first and never looked back.

The most notable play of the night arguably came in that opening period when receiver Dyllan Wright made a tremendous leaping catch in the red zone over two Temescal Canyon defenders. Demarco Moorer then finished the Apaches’ drive by walking in a two-yard touchdown to go up 6-0.

In the second half, Arcadia poured it on and outscored Temescal Canyon 25-10 en route to its ninth straight victory. Quarterback Dylan Guerra put up another solid outing, going 11 of 17 for 169 yards and one touchdown.

Arcadia will be on the road once again as they head out to Alta Loma to take on the 8-4 Braves in the CIF-SS semifinals on Friday. Winner of that game will head on to the championship game and will play the winner between Santa Ana and Kaiser.
