The spring sports season is full swing and it can’t be going any better for Arcadia as the boys’ tennis team and baseball won this past weekend’s Beckman Tournament and Inland Valley Championship, respectively.
The Apaches of the boys’ tennis team have set the tone for the spring season as they have exploded out of the gates to a 9-0 start. The team opened the season with two 18-0 wins over Temple City and Pasadena while defeating Arroyo 13-2 ahead of participating in the prestigious Beckman Tournament on Feb. 21 and 22.
Going in with a full head of steam, Arcadia didn’t skip a beat as it claimed all five of its matches to win the tournament title. The Apaches then followed up their tournament win by routing Burroughs 18-0 on Tuesday, which bumped their average win margin to 9.4 points.
After feeling like their season end a little too early last year, the Apaches have returned with a chip on their shoulder looking to prove they can compete with the best of the best.
This season, the team has shown just that as its has also jumped out to an undefeated 4-0 start. All wins came during their outing at the Inland Valley Championship Tournament where the Apaches defeated perennial powerhouse Etiwanda 9-2 on Friday to clinch the title.
Tennis will return to action on Thursday to take on Burbank on the road. By the time this article is published, baseball will have already played Damien on Wednesday but will continue its two-game home stand against Temple City on Friday.
